Plesk: basics
Sign in and the most important areas of the panel.
Plesk is the web interface you use to manage the webspace. Files, databases, mail accounts and certificates can be set there without entering commands.
- Get the login details: The login details are in the customer panel. They are shown there and should not be passed on by email.
- Log in to Plesk: Use the username and password. A strong, personal password prevents strangers from taking over the website.
- Choose a domain: The website runs under the domain. Several domains appear in a list.
Where is what?
- Files: File manager for the web folder of the domain. The pages are stored here, see Upload files.
- Databases: Create and manage MySQL databases, e.g. for WordPress.
- Mail: Mailboxes and forwarding, see Mail accounts.
- SSL/TLS: Certificates and HTTPS, see SSL certificate.
- PHP settings: Version and limits per domain. A change takes effect on the website immediately, so test beforehand.
Create a backup before major changes. A configuration error can make the website unreachable for visitors immediately.
